Inspirational Torah Lectures

Rabbi Dr. Akiva Tatz gives inspirational Torah lectures today but before that, he had a diverse and interesting history. Tatz was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and studied medicine at the University of Witwatersrand and graduated with distinction in surgery. After serving as an American Field Service Scholar and returning to work in internal medicine at Washington University, he was in the South African Defense force. Afterwards, he practiced medicine and studied in Yeshiva and undertook Talmudic study and teaching in Jewish thought and medical ethics in Jerusalem. Rabbi Dr. Tatz founded the Jerusalem Medical Ethics Forum for the purpose of teaching and promoting knowledge of Jewish medical ethics internationally and he now gives inspirational torah lectures.

In addition to giving inspirational torah lectures, Rabbi Dr. Katz also has written a number of books on the subject of Jewish thought and philosophy: Anatomy of a Search, which documents the process of transition from secular to observant lifestyles among modern Jews, Living Inspired and Worldmask. He currently gives inspirational torah lectures on Jewish thought and medical ethics at the Jewish Learning Exchange in London as well as internationally. The Jewish Learning Exchange is a meeting point where the modern world meets an age old tradition providing a point of exchange where interested Jews can investigate their own culture and history and where ideas and thoughts can be exchanged.

The work of Rabbi Dr. Tatz has been translated into Spanish, Russian, French and Portuguese. He is the co-author of Reb Simcha speaks and has recently published The Thinking Jewish Teenager's Guide to Life. He is an international lecturer and author of note and gives inspirational torah lectures on the spiritual and philosophical ideas within Judaism Rabbi Tatz has become a recognized expert in matters of Jewish thought and Torah philosophy.
